Policies
We have a number of policies, set out below.
Privacy
We take your privacy seriously, and we have a robust approach to protecting it. In fact, we have a simple approach: we don’t collect your IP address, we don’t try to ascertain where you’ve been online, or attempt to decipher your browsing habits. We don’t have advertising on the site anyway, so what would be the point?
It’s worth noting that UMarks is not a commercial entity. We are not doing this for money, rather we’re in it for the glory!
The truth is we have no idea who you are or what you’re up to; just the way we like it.
Retention of email details
As a rule we don’t retain your details if you get in touch with us. The exception to this is if you contact us and request a response, or if it makes sense for us to temporarily retain your details (e.g. if you ask us to notify you when an update happens etc.).
It goes without saying that we certainly don’t pass on your details to others. Not even for money!
We are a small set up, and only exist to develop UMarks. We have no interest in spamming you, and we dislike spam ourselves.
Copyright
Everything on the site is copyrighted, all rights reserved. The UMarks format itself is clearly designed as an open system, available to all. To use it all that is requested is that you retain the commented statement at the top of the UMarks file, as found in the samples available for download.
If you are a journalist or blogger and wish to write about UMarks please don’t just copy and paste the articles found on here. We will obviously be delighted if you write about UMarks, so are happy for you to use the various introductory articles as a starting point for your own work, and we are happy to discuss any aspect of the system with you so please feel free to get in touch.
